Different Training Levels in a Six Sigma Program

Implementing the methodologies and the ideas of Six Sigma mainly rests on the shoulders of those in the senior leaderships. They play a major role in the arrangement of the whole organization, from the bottom up, and in instilling the members and the people within the organization the culture of Six Sigma.

The first training level is the senior management training, which includes the higher authorities such as the CEO, COO, and the like. The training centers on the general facts about the program and the benefits of implementing in the business and financial aspects and other applications on such, among others.

The second is the functional managers training, which includes the functional managers from various departments, such as human resources, training, and others; and also process managers. They are trained to learn various concepts and methodologies of Six Sigma. These functional and process managers are known in the Six Sigma hierarchy as sponsors and champions.

The third is the quality leader training, which includes the training of quality managers that are also known in the Six Sigma hierarchy as the Master Black Belts. They are trained to coordinate with the champions, and also learn various concepts and tools. This training level has a six sigma certification.

The fourth is the project leader training, which trains project leaders that are known in the Six Sigma hierarchy as the Black Belts. They are trained to implement the methodology and tools of Six Sigma, and learn the details of the program’s concept. This training level has also a six sigma certification.

The fifth and last training level is the employee training. This training is towards the lower rank employees that are also known in the Six Sigma hierarchy as the Green Belts. Training is shorter than the higher levels, and has also a six sigma certification for learning lesser details on statistics and tools.
