METHODS OF SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGY

The Six Sigma methodologies are the DMAIC and DMADV. These two project methodologies are used by individual with Six Sigma Certification. The two methodologies provide a step by step guide in implementing the Six Sigma Methods. The DMAIC is utilized on existing projects to further improvement of the quality of the process. The DMADV on the other hand, is implemented on new projects.

The five phases of DMAIC methodology are as follows. First thing to do is define the problem. The second step is to measure and collect the key aspects of the project. Thirdly, analyze the data to know the cause and effect relationship. The fourth step is to improve and optimize the current process. Lastly, is to control the future-state process.

The DMADV methodology stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Design Details and Verify. This project method is also known as Design For Six Sigma (DFSS). Just like the DMAIC, the DMADV is also patterned on the Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle of Edward Deming.

The implementation roles of the Six Sigma

The successful implementation of the Six Sigma is played by professionals with Six Sigma Certification. Training from the managerial position down to the lowest position is essential to understand and implement the Six Sigma business strategy. The key roles in Six Sigma are as follows:

Executive Leadership. This role is given to the higher positioned individual especially the CEO. The part of executive Leaders is to set visions and govern the whole system.

The Champions, Master Black Belts, Black Belts, Green Belts and Yellow Belts follow the chronological hierarchy of the Six Sigma system.

The Six Sigma Certification of the above roles is essential to ensure the delivery of the goals and objectives of the Six Sigma system. Moreover, the certification and training also play a part for the confidence of individuals to work.
