Six Sigma Certification

Six Sigma Certification: Should You Seek One on Your Own?

Typically, it’s the companies that pay for the Six Sigma certification and training program of their employees. These specially trained employees are the ones that will implement the business management strategy; that is Six Sigma. Companies are willing to pay thousands of dollars for the program because Six Sigma is proven to be immensely valuable to companies that have implemented it properly. However, is it advisable for an individual to seek this certification on his own? Should he spend thousands of his own money?

People working in other industries, like healthcare, seek certification with certain goals in mind. Pharmacy technicians, for example, seek their certification in order to be hired first over other uncertified applicants. They also expect higher salary rates because of their additional training and certification. People that have gained Six Sigma certification can expect the same things.

Those that have obtained their certification in Six Sigma methodology can expect better careers ahead of them. This is because the training that an individual need to complete is extensive, not to mention the certification process that must be met. Once you are certified, your resume instantly becomes more attractive to HR managers and potential employers. Even if the company will not implement Six Sigma, hiring managers are more likely to hire applicants that are certified in this business management methodology. As such, the applicant can expect, and in some cases even ask for, a higher salary offer.

Some people may wonder if the Six Sigma certification they’ve obtained through the initiative of their former employers will be recognized by other companies. To some extent, the answer is yes. This is because the concept behind Six Sigma is the same for all companies that have embraced it. However, some companies may require a certified employee to undertake additional Six Sigma training in matters that are specific to the said company. This additional training, of course, will be beneficial to both the company and the employee.
