Six Sigma Certification

The Three Types of Six Sigma Certification

The Six Sigma certification is handed out by the American Society for Quality, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and by the International Association for Six Sigma certification to professionals under the six sigma paradigm that have underwent various trainings regarding the concepts that revolve around the whole idea of Six Sigma, as well as the specifics for each type of certification.

There are different levels of six sigma employees. The different levels are titled just like the rankings of the levels in martial arts that are represented by belts. Further training is important if one wants to reach the higher level. Each of the levels that will be mentioned in the succeeding paragraphs is represented by their colors.

The first and the lowest level is the Six Sigma Green Belt. In simple terms, he is the employee trained on methodologies that involve improvements. These skills are less comprehensive than that of those higher than them. In short, they only do what is directed by them. The Six Sigma certification is given to the green belts who have been an experienced employee for three years.

The second level is the Six Sigma Black Belt. They are the ones who direct and guide the green belts in implementing the projects and steering them to success. In simple terms, they are the so-called team leaders who are experts in implementing the six sigma methodologies. They also ensure that every Six Sigma tools and equipment are leaning towards the proper execution of the project.

The third and the highest level of those given the six sigma certification is the Six Sigma Master Black Belts. They are the overall experts of not only the six sigma methodologies, but also the whole implementation of a certain project and overall strategies. In training, they serve as mentors to the lower levels, training them with all the aspects of Six Sigma.
