Six Sigma Certification: How Important is It in Today’s Job Market

Six Sigma is more than just a buzzword in the business world. It’s one of the most popular management methodologies around. In fact, if you interview a number of business development experts, they will attest that it is the most popular and the most effective tool to make sure businesses remain highly efficient and proficient. Implementation of this methodology lies in the expert hands of facilitators that have earned their own Six Sigma Certification.

Earning a certification alone, though, does not mean the recipient is an expert on the whole aspect of Six Sigma. It only means they have trained for and passed the proficiency test for a specific task within the methodology. An individual that trained for a certain facilitator level, like a Green Belt for example, will receive a certification for that level alone. Those that passed the board examination for physicians don’t mean all of them have the same level of knowledge. Some will be better doctors than other physicians will. Six Sigma Certification recipients have different levels of expertise, depending on the level they trained for.

How do these certifications benefit the company? Obviously, the certification is the proof of the employee that he has passed the proficiency test given by either the company itself or the company that provided the training. It is beneficial to the company in the sense that they have an assurance that the concept of Six Sigma shall be implemented excellently, to reap the rewards that the management methodology offers.

For the employees that receive the Six Sigma Certification, they are in the position to receive better salary and higher standing within the company. They may have more complex and serious responsibilities but, ideally, they should be well compensated because of those responsibilities. When implemented properly, Six Sigma should be beneficial to everybody involved in the process.
